Board of Water Commissioners

The meeting of the Board of Water Commissioners was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Dale Donovan. Commissioners present included Ira Wood, Michael May, and Helen Miranda Wilson. Commissioner Jerry Houk was absent. Town Administrator Tim Smith also attended.

Chairman Donovan recognized John Riehl who announced that the NRAB will conduct open meetings on three dates to discuss the Draft 2005 Wellfleet Harbor Management Plan. Mr. Riehl provided a handout with specific information; the draft report is available on the Town’s website.

Chairman Donovan recognized Ben Gitlow who announced that the Charter Review Committee will hold a public meeting on Monday, July 18, 2005, 7:30 p.m., at the Senior Center to hear opinions and suggestions from Wellfleet residents about possible changes to the Charter.   

Presentation: Water System Development and Financing Options – Robert Maynard, President, and Russell Tierney, Division Manager, WhiteWater, Inc. presented information about the Town’s water system; discussion followed. The Power Point presentation will be available on the Town’s website.

The Board agreed to take a five minute break and to reconvene at 8:05 p.m.

Interviews for Appointment to the Board of Water Commissioners: The Board agreed to interview applicants for the new Board of Water Commissioners and further to decide on the appointments only after all applicants are interviewed. The following applicants were interviewed: Merilyn Hiller; Mark Berry; Moe Barocas; and John Riehl.  

At 8:45 p.m., the Board of Water Commissioners adjourned to allow the Board of Selectmen to convene.

Board of Selectmen

On a motion by Wood, seconded by May, the Board of Selectmen voted 4-0 in favor of the following reappointments: Robert McCaffery to the Recreation Committee for a three year term and Frank Szedlak to the Local Housing Partnership for a one year term.

At 8:50 p.m., Wood moved, and Wilson seconded, the Board of Selectmen voted 4-0 to adjourn and to reconvene as the Board of Water Commissioners.

Minutes of Previous Water Commissioners Meetings: On a motion by Wood, seconded, by


Wilson, the Board voted 4-0 to approve the Water Commissioners meeting minutes of April 27, 2005 and May 10, 2005, as submitted.

On a motion by Wood, seconded by Wilson, the Board voted 4-0, to adjourn at 8:55 p.m.
